For flooring shops, mobile carpet and LVT fitters, and wood floor sanders who want the free measure booked with them, not with a national chain's home visit service. We put your Google profile in order, write a page for each floor you fit, and ask every customer to leave a review. Local SEO and Google Business Profile work is paid on results: there is nothing to pay upfront, and you pay nothing until the results we agree with you in writing, before we start, have been met.

One flooring firm per area, so your rival down the road gets a no
'Carpet fitters near me': 12,100 searches Oct 2025, 6,600 July 2026
These are a Leeds respray firm that refinishes kitchens, doors and windows, a London renovation builder and a mobile tyre fitter. None of them lays floors. Every number below compares a client's first full month of Google data with its strongest month so far.

more clicks from Google to the website, from 115 to 257 a month
“Now every day I have some job. They call, they text, I find the emails.”

We do not work for a flooring shop, carpet fitter or floor sander yet, so none of these figures is from the flooring trade. ColourHaus is the closest: a finishing trade whose work is done at the customer's property, and whose Google search clicks also rose from 176 to 458 a month over June to September 2026, +160% (Google Search Console). Rescue Tyres is here because, like a mobile carpet fitter, it goes to the customer rather than the customer coming to it.
Shop, vanorsandingrig:set the profile up for the one you are.
Google treats a flooring showroom and a mobile fitter as two different kinds of business, and the profile has to match. A shop that customers walk into shows its address. A fitter who works from the van hides it and lists the towns covered instead. Get this wrong and you either lose map positions or risk the profile being suspended.
Google's own rule is plain: if you don't serve customers at your address, remove it and enter only your service area, which can hold up to 20 places and shouldn't run past about two hours' drive from your base (Google's guidance). A showroom that also measures and fits in people's homes can show both.
The flooring shop
Samples, a showroom and fitters on the books. Your address goes on the profile with opening hours you actually keep. Main category follows what earns most, usually Carpet Retail Shop or Flooring Shop in the UK list, with Carpet Fitter added and each type of fitting entered as a service. Showroom photos count, because people visit.
The mobile fitter
Carpet, LVT and laminate fitted from the van, often for customers who bought the flooring elsewhere. No address on show, a service area of the towns you really cover, and Carpet Fitter or Flooring contractor as the main category. The service area or address guide walks through the set-up.
The sanding and restoration firm
Original pine boards, parquet and old oak brought back. In the UK, 'floor sanding near me' is searched roughly 1,300 times a month and 'parquet floor restoration' roughly 880. Google has categories for it, Floor sanding and polishing service and Floor refinishing service, and before and after photos of the same room do most of the selling.
First by product, then by place. The product searches are huge and national. Across October 2025 to September 2026, Google's Keyword Planner puts 'lvt flooring' at about 60,500 UK searches a month, 'herringbone flooring' 49,500 and 'engineered wood flooring' 18,100. The brands are searched by name too: 'karndean flooring' about 33,100 and 'amtico flooring' 27,100.
The money is in the local searches that follow. 'Carpet shop near me' averaged 40,500 a month, 'carpets near me' 27,100, 'flooring near me' 12,100 and 'carpet fitters near me' 8,100. Then come the town searches, smaller but closer to a sale: 'carpets leeds' about 590 a month and 'carpet fitters leeds' 260.
Carpet has a season. 'Carpet fitters near me' reached 12,100 searches in October 2025 and fell to 6,600 in June and July 2026. The autumn climb runs into the weeks before Christmas, so the pages and the review push need to be in place by early autumn, not started in November.
So a flooring site needs a page for each floor you fit, written for your area:
LVT: the brands you're a retailer for, click or glue-down, and the subfloor prep it needs.
Carpet and stairs: ranges, underlay, stair runners and what a fitted price includes.
Laminate: where it suits and where it doesn't, such as bathrooms.
Engineered and solid wood: herringbone, chevron and plank, fitted floating or glued.
Vinyl and safety flooring: kitchens, bathrooms, rentals and care settings.
Sanding and refinishing: boards, parquet, gap filling, oil or lacquer, and dust control.
Thefreemeasureisthesale.Your page has to book it.
In flooring, the enquiry you want is a measure-and-quote visit, not a price by text. Once you're in the house with samples, you have your best chance of winning it. So every product page should end in one clear request: book a free measure, with the towns you cover, the days you visit and what the customer should have ready.
The big sellers have set this expectation. Karndean says all its retail partners offer a 'measure, quote and professional fitting service' (Karndean), and Tapi offers a free home visit of about 90 minutes, seven days a week (Tapi). An independent who makes the visit hard to book loses it to someone who makes it easy.
Many buyers want a rough idea before they call. Our free carpet calculator, flooring calculator and tile calculator give a customer a quantity to start from. Your page then explains why your measure still matters: doorways, alcoves, pattern match and wastage are where a home estimate goes wrong.
CananindependentbeatTapiand the directory sites?
In the map results, it can. The chains are searched by name across the country, but the map pack is ranked on relevance, distance and how well known a business is locally, and a fitter with strong reviews in their own town can sit above a chain store there. The chain end of the market has also narrowed: in July 2024 Tapi bought the Carpetright brand and 54 of its stores from the administrators (Insight DIY).
Below the map, the ordinary results for 'carpet fitters near me' are often directories, not fitters. When we pulled that search for Leeds on 21 October 2026, Houzz held four of the first ten results, with Yell and Local Quotes beside them. The three map places were a carpet fitter whose listed website was a Facebook page, a local flooring firm and a carpet warehouse. Local firms already hold that map, and the results under it are directories rather than rival fitters' own pages.
Steady, recent reviews
A trickle of fresh reviews from real fittings in your own town does more than a burst of old ones. After each fitting the customer gets a simple request to leave a review, in their own words, and every review gets a reply. Read why review recency matters.
Your own fitted floors
Chains show catalogue shots. You can show the hallway you finished on Tuesday, captioned with the product and the town. Real job photos on the profile and on each product page are something no warehouse can copy.
Ads where they pay
'Flooring services' is one of the UK categories in Local Services Ads, Google's pay-per-lead adverts (Google), but floor sanding has none. If ads would help, we run Google Ads on a separate quote.
Whichflooringmembershipsare worth showing off?
The ones a buyer can check. No licence is needed to lay floors, so a named body with a public directory or an inspection service does real work on your site. Link straight to your own listing rather than just pasting a logo.
The Contract Flooring Association is the trade body for commercial flooring contractors, manufacturers and distributors, with a find-a-member directory and a dispute resolution service. For a firm chasing offices, schools or housing association work, membership belongs on the commercial page.
FITA training and BS 5325
The Flooring Industry Training Association, a joint venture of the CFA and NICF, runs NVQs and courses in carpet, LVT, wood and subfloor preparation. Carpet fitting also has a British Standard code of practice, BS 5325:2021. Name what you hold.
Monthbymonth, here is the work on your account.
The jobs that get a floor business into the map and keep it there, reported in your portal so you can see what moved:
Set the profile's categories, services and address or service area to match how you really trade.
Write and maintain a page for each floor you fit, and for each town worth winning.
Post real fitted floors to the profile, with the product and the area named.
Ask every customer for a review once the floor is down, with a simple request, and answer each one.
Match your name, address and phone number on Yell, Houzz, the NICF directory and any brand retailer listing.
Plan the carpet pages and review push for the autumn rush, ahead of October.

Whatpeopleask us
What do you charge a flooring company?
We don't publish a price, because a carpet shop on a busy high street and a one-van LVT fitter are very different jobs. We look at your market in the free analysis, quote for it, and leave the choice with you. Local SEO and Google Business Profile work is paid on results: nothing upfront, and nothing until the results agreed with you in writing, before we start, have been met. From that point a monthly fee applies, with no fixed term, and you can stop it at any point. Leave before the result and there is no bill at all. Websites and ads carry their own quotes. The full terms are on our pay-on-results page.
When will the extra measure-up bookings start?
Nobody controls Google, so there's no date we can honestly promise. Speed comes down to how far behind the higher-ranked flooring firms you start, which the free analysis sets out, and on the season: carpet searches climb into October, so work started in spring has time to settle before the rush. No bill arrives in the meantime.
Will you work for another flooring firm in my town?
No. We take one flooring business per trade per area, so once you're in, the shop or fitter competing with you for the same searches gets turned away. If we already work with someone in your patch, the analysis says so.
I'm a mobile fitter with no shop. Will Google show me on the map?
Yes. Most carpet and LVT fitters work this way. Your profile hides your home address and lists a service area instead, and Google still ranks service-area businesses in the map pack. Distance from the searcher counts, so you'll do best in the towns nearest your base.
I fit for retailers as a subcontractor. Can I find my own customers too?
Many fitters do both. Check your agreements first, since some retailers restrict approaching their customers. Your own profile and site then bring in direct work, where you set the price for supply and fit rather than taking a fitting rate.
We do commercial contract flooring. Does local SEO help?
Partly. Main contractors and facilities managers search differently from homeowners, often by product and sector, such as safety flooring for schools. The work here is a separate set of commercial pages with case studies and your CFA membership, kept apart from the domestic carpet pages so neither confuses the other.
We also clean carpets. Should that go on the same profile?
Carpet cleaning is a different search and a different buyer, and it can sit as a service on your profile. If it's a big part of the business, it may justify its own pages. Our page for cleaning companies covers carpet cleaners in detail.
Do I have to replace my website?
Not always. If your site is sound, we work with it and add the product and town pages it lacks. If it can't be fixed, the analysis will tell you. A replacement site sits outside the pay-on-results terms and carries its own quote.
Somebodymeasuresthatlivingroomthisweek.Will it be you?
Tell us whether you run a shop, fit from the van or sand floors, and which towns you cover. A short screen recording of your area's map follows within two working days. It covers the flooring searches you show for now, the shops, chains and directories ranked higher, and what it would take to overtake them. You keep it whatever you decide. If your area isn't winnable, the video says so.
