Solarenquiriesfromhomeownerswhohavealready checked you out.
For MCS installers of solar PV and home batteries who would rather the homeowner found them than buy that homeowner's details from a lead seller. We work on your Google profile, the pages that answer what buyers ask before they ring, and the reviews and credentials they check. Local SEO and Google Business Profile work is paid on results: nothing upfront, and nothing to pay until the results we agree with you in writing, before we start, have been met.

There's no solar installer among our clients yet, so you won't find solar figures here. These are two home improvement businesses that live or die on homeowners trusting them with a big job: a London renovation firm doing structural work, and a Leeds sprayer respraying kitchens and uPVC. Both numbers set the month we began measuring against the strongest whole month after it, read straight from Google.

Neither business fits solar panels or batteries, and this page doesn't dress them up as solar work. With no solar client yet, no area is taken: whoever signs first in an area keeps it to themselves.
Whatdoesahomeownersearchbeforebuyingsolar?
The product and the money first, the installer later. Across the UK, "solar panels for home" averages about 5,400 searches a month, "solar panels cost" 3,600 and "are solar panels worth it" 1,900, while "solar panel installers near me" gets about 2,900. A buyer reads for weeks before asking anyone to quote, so the installer who answers those questions honestly is often the one they end up calling.
Every monthly average quoted here is a UK figure from Google Ads Keyword Planner, covering the twelve months to September 2026. When we ran "solar panel installers near me" on a phone in Leeds on 21 October 2026, Google listed homeowners' own questions under the map: why people are getting rid of solar panels, whether panels count towards an EPC and whether you can fit them yourself. Each is a page your competitors have mostly not written.
The roof
"Solar panel installers" and "solar panel installation" each average about 5,400 searches a month. The map answers the "near me" versions, so the profile has to say plainly that you design and fit systems, not just sell kit.
The battery
"Solar battery" gets about 6,600 searches a month, "home battery storage" 4,400 and "battery storage for solar panels" 2,400. Battery buyers often have panels already, so they need a page of their own, not a line at the foot of the solar page.
The paperwork
"Solar panel grants" draws about 9,900 searches a month, "smart export guarantee" 1,600 and "MCS certified installer" 880. These are buyers checking the rules and the fine print, and a page that answers them straight builds trust before the survey.
Because a lot of homeowners have been burned, or know someone who was. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code reported that around 2,000 people complained to the Financial Ombudsman Service about mis-sold solar PV in 2017 alone, many of them told the panels would "pay for themselves". The cold calls haven't stopped either: in September 2025 the ICO fined a Pembrokeshire firm £300,000 for 2.4 million automated calls about solar panels.
So a solar buyer arrives suspicious. What wins them is what they can check for themselves: an owner with a name and a face, a real address, recent reviews that mention the survey and the install, and savings figures with the assumptions written next to them. Your pages lead with those. They don't promise free panels or invent a deadline.
Credentials do the rest, and they only count if a homeowner can confirm them in a click. Your MCS certificate number goes on the site and the profile, linked to your entry in MCS's installer search.
MCS
The SEG asks for proof that an installation up to 50kW and its installer are suitably certified, and an MCS certificate is the evidence named in Ofgem's generator guidance. MCS counts over 2 million certified solar installations to date (MCS).
RECC and HIES
RECC holds approval under the Chartered Trading Standards Institute's Consumer Codes Approval Scheme. HIES says its installers work under a CTSI-approved code and lists deposit protection and insurance-backed guarantees. If you belong to either, your pages link to it.
The Customer Commitment
Once an installer has moved to MCS's redeveloped scheme, consumer code membership is no longer mandatory, and the customer gets MCS's Customer Commitment at first contact. Installers not yet moved keep their code. The move runs until 31 March 2027 (MCS). Your site should say which applies to you.
Sharedleads,exclusiveleads,or your own enquiries?
Your own enquiries are the only kind nobody else is sold. When we checked "solar leads" on google.co.uk on 21 October 2026, the first page was lead sellers and their guides to buying leads. That is where installers go when the phone is quiet, and it's worth knowing what is on offer.
Quote sites put one homeowner in front of several installers. GreenMatch tells homeowners that "up to 4 installers will get in touch" after one form. Checkatrade's solar search, in its own description on Google, lets a homeowner contact up to three companies at once. Some sellers say their leads are exclusive, and a few work on booked appointments. Before you pay for any lead, ask how many installers get the same homeowner, whether a bad or unreachable lead is credited, and how the homeowner was found. A lead first reached by a cold call starts with the suspicion your pages are trying to lift.
There's no need to stop buying leads that earn more than they cost. A homeowner who finds your profile, reads your battery page and rings you is talking to you alone, and that enquiry carries no fee per lead. Our Checkatrade alternatives guide lays out the other routes side by side.
Whendohomeownerssearchforsolar?
Least in late December, most when energy is in the news. In every year from 2021 to 2025, the quietest week for UK searches for "solar panels" fell in the last fortnight of December (Google Trends). "Solar panel installers" fell to about 2,900 searches in December 2025 and reached 8,100 in March 2026.
The spikes follow the news, not the sun. The busiest week for "solar panels" in the past five years was 22 to 28 March 2026, and in 2022 the peak came in the week of 28 August. In that same March, searches for "plug in solar" jumped from about 480 in February 2026 to 40,500. England's planning rules have covered plug-in kits since 27 August 2026 (legislation.gov.uk), and a buyer weighing one up wants an installer who will explain what a fitted system does differently.
Two sets of rules belong on your site, each with its date. The zero rate of VAT on installed solar panels and batteries in homes runs to 31 March 2027, and from 1 April 2027 it returns to the reduced rate of 5% (HMRC). Under England's permitted development rules, as amended from 27 August 2026, panels on a pitched roof may stand no more than 0.2 metres proud of the slope and no higher than the highest part of the roof, chimney aside, and a listed home falls outside these rules altogether. State both accurately, and don't turn the VAT date into sales pressure.
Whyarebatteryretrofitsworththeirownpage?
Because the buyers already have panels and a reason to call. MCS counted 36,000 certified battery installations in the first half of 2026, almost the whole of 2025's record of 40,000, and 92% of them went onto homes with solar panels (MCS). Every home on that list of 2 million certified solar installs is a possible battery job, including the ones somebody else fitted.
The questions are specific, so the page should be too. Adding a battery to existing panels in a home qualifies for the same zero rate of VAT as the panels (HMRC, section 2.19). Export is the catch to explain: if a battery is also charged from the grid, an export tariff supplier does not have to pay the SEG on everything the meter records (Ofgem, paragraphs 1.39 to 1.41). A page that sets that out plainly reads like advice, not a pitch.
Fewer people search for it outright: "add battery to existing solar" gets about 70 searches a month and "solar battery installers near me" 260. But the person typing them has already bought panels and is pricing the next step. Your past customers are part of this market too, and a review from one of them saying the battery went in cleanly is worth more than an advert.
The right main category. Solar installers near Bristol, in Google's own listing data on 21 October 2026, used Solar energy company, Solar energy system service or Electrician as their main category. The one that leads should match the work you want more of. How to pick it
A page for each system and each question. Panels, batteries, retrofits to existing panels, the SEG, the VAT rate, planning rules and grants. The grants page names Warm Homes: Local Grant for what it is: England only, an EPC of D to G and, usually, a household income of £36,000 or less. What a service page needs
A steady run of reviews. Every customer is sent a simple request, and every review is answered. In Leeds on 21 October 2026, the three installers in Google's map had 54, 175 and 273 reviews. Why review pace matters
Credentials a buyer can check. Your MCS number, consumer code or Customer Commitment, and any TrustMark listing, each linked to the scheme's own record, and one consistent name, address and number across every listing. Citations that matter
Photos of real roofs. Arrays, inverters, battery cupboards and the van, taken on your own jobs, never stock images.

If your market is not winnable, we say so. If it is, we agree in writing what a result is and how it is measured, before anything starts.
The work
Your Google Business Profile, the pages that need to rank, citations and reviews. One business per trade per area, so never your rival as well.
You see every number
Clicks, calls and where you show up, in your own portal, straight from Google. You pay once the agreed results are met.
Whatpeopleask us
Do you sell solar leads?
No. We don't sell leads, buy them or pass a homeowner to anyone. The work goes into your own Google profile, pages and reviews, so every enquiry comes straight to you and isn't shared with other installers.
What does SEO for a solar installer cost?
There's no price list. Your fee is worked out once the free analysis is done, since it turns on how crowded the solar searches are around you and how well reviewed the leading installers are. Local SEO and Google Business Profile work is paid on results: nothing upfront, and nothing until the results we agree with you in writing, before we start, have been met. Once it is met, the fee runs monthly and is yours to stop at the end of any month; leave before that point and it costs nothing. Websites, adverts and social media get a separate quote. How pay on results works
How soon will the enquiries come in?
Any date we gave you would be a guess. It turns on how established the installers near you are and where your profile starts. You'll see your calls, views and clicks every month in the portal, and because nothing is due until the agreed result is met, a slow start costs us, not you.
Will you work for another solar installer near me?
No. We take one installer per area, so the company quoting against you on the same streets can't sign up too. If an installer in your area joined before you, we'll tell you at the start.
We're an electrical firm that also fits solar. Will that confuse Google?
Not if the profile and pages are clear about it. Near Bristol, the most-reviewed installer in Google's listings for solar work on 21 October 2026 was an electrical firm with Solar energy company as a second category. Which category leads depends on the work you want more of, and the analysis shows who holds each search near you. SEO for electricians covers the electrical side.
Do I need MCS to rank on Google?
Google doesn't check it. Homeowners do, and so do export tariff suppliers: for the SEG, an installation up to 50kW needs a suitably certified installation and installer, and an MCS certificate is the evidence Ofgem's guidance names. If you're certified, we make that easy to see and check. If you're not, we won't hint that you are.
Can you write about grants and the VAT change without overselling?
Yes, and we stick to the source. A grants page should say who doesn't qualify as clearly as who does, and the VAT page should give the date the zero rate ends and the 5% that follows, with a link to HMRC. Overselling either is how this trade earned its reputation.
Do you work with commercial solar installers?
Local SEO suits installers who sell to homeowners and small businesses nearby, because that is who uses Google's map to choose. Large commercial rooftop work is usually won through tenders and contacts, and if the analysis shows search won't move your numbers, the video will say so.
Will you keep our website?
Yes, as long as it works. Who built it doesn't matter to us, and we'll leave your quote calculator or survey booking in place. If the site itself is losing enquiries, the video will show where, and any rebuild is quoted separately, outside pay on results.
Beforethenexthomeownerbuysaleadlist, make sure they find you first.
Tell us your area and whether you fit panels, batteries or both. Inside two working days you'll get a short video of the map and search results where you work: which installers, quote sites and lead sellers take the solar searches today, and what would have to change to put you above them. Keep the video either way. If the area can't be won, it tells you so.
