Driveway SEO that rings your phone, not a lead seller's.

For UK driveway installers laying block paving, resin bound, tarmac and gravel who want homeowners ringing them direct from Google, without paying per lead. We build the profile, the pages and the reviews a careful customer checks before letting anyone near the front of the house. Local SEO and Google Business Profile work is paid on results: there is nothing to pay upfront, and you pay nothing until the results we agree with you in writing, before we start, have been met.

  • No fee upfront, and none until the agreed results are in
  • One driveway firm per area, never your nearest rival too
  • Free video: who holds the driveway map where you work

We do not work for a driveway or paving firm yet, so no figure here comes from one. These two clients are the closest we have: a London firm doing heavy building work, and a Leeds firm that resprays garage doors, front doors and windows, the front-of-house jobs a homeowner weighs up as carefully as a new drive. Each number sets the first month we measured against the best full month that followed, with its months and source shown.

Neither client lays driveways. GS Renovation fits steel beams and renovates homes in London, and ColourHaus sprays doors, windows and kitchens in Leeds. ColourHaus's search clicks climbed 160% as well, from a June 2026 total of 176 to a September total of 458 (Google Search Console). When we have a driveway client with enough months to show, their figures go here instead.

What does a homeowner type when they want a new drive?

Usually the surface, not the trade. Across the UK, "resin driveways near me" draws roughly 1,600 searches in a typical month, "block paving near me" 1,300 and "tarmac driveway near me" 1,300, next to 2,400 for "driveway companies near me" (Google Ads Keyword Planner, UK monthly averages, Oct 2025 to Sep 2026). So give each surface you lay a page of its own, and list it as a service on your Google profile too.

Research runs far bigger than booking. "Resin driveway" on its own runs to about 27,100 a month, "gravel driveway" 8,100 and "resin driveway cost" 5,400. Those people are months from a quote, but a page that answers them honestly puts your name in front of them first.

Block paving

The pattern, the block, the edging and the sub-base all belong on the page. If you are on a manufacturer's installer scheme, say which. Marshalls says it vets every installer on its list, regularly assesses their work and backs accredited jobs with a 10-year product guarantee (Marshalls).

Resin bound

Bound and bonded are easy to confuse, and planning is the next worry. A page that explains the difference, what goes underneath and how the drive drains answers the question your rivals leave to the site visit.

Tarmac

This is the surface doorstep callers sell, so it needs the most visible proof: a registered company, a landline, an address, photos of named streets and reviews that mention tarmac. A tarmac page that reads like the leaflet through the door will not win the phone call.

Gravel and sub-base

Gravel is the cheap end of the market and a big search. Homeowners pricing it want tonnes and bulk bags, which our free gravel calculator, Type 1 calculator and paving calculator work out. Your gravel page should answer the same sums in plain words.

Who takes the driveway searches in your town today?

Three local firms in the map, then mostly directories and installers from other towns. We checked "driveway companies near me" on 21 October 2026 with a search data service that returns Google's phone results for a chosen place, here Leeds. The map showed three Leeds firms with 36, 63 and 109 Google reviews. The ten results beneath were TrustATrader, Houzz, MyJobQuote, newspaper directories and pages written for York, Sheffield, Stafford, Leicester and Rotherham. None was a Leeds installer's own page.

The same check for "resin driveways near me", set to Bristol, looked no different. The three map firms had 60, 8 and 6 reviews, and every result below was a resin page for somewhere else, from Gloucester to Wigan. A map place held on six reviews tells you how thin the competition can be.

That gap is the case for doing this properly. A firm with a real page for its own town, real finished drives on it and a steady run of reviews has little to beat in many areas. The free analysis checks whether yours is one of them, and if a rival already owns the map on your streets, it says so.

Why does a driveway firm have to prove more than most?

Because the trade carries a doorstep reputation, and your customers have read the warnings. In July 2026 Monmouthshire Trading Standards warned of callers selling driveway and tarmac work with high-pressure tactics, false claims to work for the council and demands for excessive payments. Its advice: never agree to work being carried out immediately, and use schemes such as TrustMark and Buy With Confidence (Monmouthshire County Council).

Customers check. Below a Leeds search, Google suggested "Driveways Sheffield companies house" and "Driveways Sheffield reviews" as follow-up searches. So your site and profile should hand over the checks before they are asked for.

  • A company they can look up. Company number, registered address and a landline on every page, matching your Companies House entry and your Google profile.
  • Schemes Trading Standards names. Buy With Confidence is run only by council Trading Standards services, with a full audit and a criminal record check for anyone working in or around homes (Buy With Confidence). If you are a member, link to your entry.
  • Old badges taken down. Interlay, the block paving contractors' association, closed in 2021 (Pavingexpert), and its old web address now leads to a casino guide. If your site still carries the logo or the link, it is sending customers somewhere you would not.
  • Paperwork that matches the law. Agree a job at the customer's house and they have 14 days to cancel. If you leave out how to cancel, that stretches by up to a year (Citizens Advice). Saying so on your quote page sets you apart from the doorstep caller.
  • Reviews from real drives. Once the last block is down and the kiln-dried sand brushed in, it is time for a simple request to every customer. Whatever review comes back gets answered. How to ask, and what to do about fake reviews on a rival's profile.

Planning and dropped kerbs: the questions to answer first.

Answer them on your site before the survey, because homeowners search them long before they ring. "Dropped kerb" averages 6,600 searches a month, "permeable paving" 2,400 and "dropped kerb cost" 1,900 (Google Ads Keyword Planner). Google listed "Do I need planning permission to block pave my driveway?" under the Leeds and Bristol results, and in Leeds "What is the new driveway rule in England?", though the rule it usually means dates from 2008.

England: the 5 m² rule

Since 1 October 2008, paving more than 5 square metres of a front garden needs planning permission unless the surface is permeable or drains to a lawn or border (GOV.UK). The guidance names gravel, permeable block paving and porous asphalt. Your page should say which of your surfaces qualify and how.

Wales: stricter still

In Wales, a new or replacement hard surface at the front of a house must be permeable or drain to a permeable area, whatever its size. Replacing or repairing up to 5 square metres of existing surface is exempt (Welsh Government). If you lay drives in England and Wales, publish each country's rule.

Dropped kerbs

The homeowner applies to the council, which can approve, change or refuse it, and driving over a kerb or verge without an approved crossing is an offence under section 184 of the Highways Act 1980 (Coventry City Council). A page explaining your council's process wins the drive before it is quoted.

When do driveway enquiries dry up and come back?

They drop in December and come back hard in March. UK searches for "block paving" hit their low in the last fortnight of December and peaked between late March and May for four years running, 2022 to 2025 (Google Trends). "Resin driveways near me" went from 720 searches in December 2025 to 3,600 in March 2026, and "driveway companies near me" from 880 to 2,900 (Google Ads Keyword Planner).

So winter is when the slow work gets done. Last summer's drives become write-ups with the surface, the area and the town. New surface pages go up. The services on your profile are matched to last spring's searches. Where that puts you by March is not something anyone can honestly promise.

The monthly work on a driveway firm's profile and site.

Five jobs, repeated, and pointed at the surfaces you most want to lay. Our approach for every trade is set out on SEO for tradesmen. If you also do patios and gardens, SEO for landscapers covers that side, and firms doing extensions and groundwork should read SEO for builders.

  • Categories that fit the yard. Paving contractor, Asphalt contractor and Concrete contractor are all Google categories in use by UK firms. Your primary category matches the drives you most want; extra ones go on only where they describe real work. Picking the primary category
  • A page per surface. Block paving, resin bound, tarmac, gravel and imprinted concrete, each with prices explained, drainage covered and photos of that surface finished. What a service page needs
  • Town pages you can back up. Only for places you really work, each with finished drives from that town. On the map, distance counts from where your profile was verified, whatever towns you list (why), so we tell you how far reach is realistic.
  • One name everywhere. Yell, Checkatrade, TrustATrader, your scheme listings and Companies House all agreeing on name, address and number. How the audit works
  • Figures you can check. The calls and views Google logs on your profile, next to the clicks Search Console logs on your site, in your client portal. Which calls Google counts

Paying per enquiry: what the lead sellers charge.

A set price per enquiry or a subscription, depending on who sells it. Lead Pronto, for example, advertises exclusive driveway leads from £15 each and booked appointments from £130 (Lead Pronto). MyJobQuote sells driveway leads on subscription packages (MyJobQuote), and Checkatrade, Bark and TrustATrader all list driveway firms.

If a lead source more than pays for itself, keep it. The difference is that a call from your own profile or page costs nothing per enquiry, and the review it leaves stays yours. Our work there is paid on results. Google's list of UK Local Services Ads categories names landscaping but no driveway or paving category (Google), so on most driveway searches the map is the first thing a homeowner sees. Our guide compares what the lead sites charge.

Websites, ads and social media are quoted separately after the free analysis. How pay on results works

From first call to first result

  1. Free analysis

Tell us your trade and area. We record a short video of where you rank, who is above you and what would have to change. It is yours to keep.

  2. An honest answer

If your market is not winnable, we say so. If it is, we agree in writing what a result is and how it is measured, before anything starts.

  3. The work

Your Google Business Profile, the pages that need to rank, citations and reviews. One business per trade per area, so never your rival as well.

  4. You see every number

Clicks, calls and where you show up, in your own portal, straight from Google. You pay once the agreed results are met.

What people ask us

What will driveway SEO cost me?

There is no list price. The fee turns on how many paving firms chase your searches and how well set up their profiles are, so it is quoted once the free analysis is done, and you can refuse it. Local SEO and Google Business Profile work is paid on results: nothing upfront, and nothing until the results we agree with you in writing, before we start, have been met. Past that point you pay a rolling monthly fee and can cancel in any month; leave before it and no bill arrives. A new website, adverts or social posting are never on these terms; each gets its own price after the analysis. The full terms

When will the extra enquiries start?

No honest agency can name the week, since Google decides the pace. It turns on the installers who already hold your local map, the size of their review counts and how far back your profile starts. The analysis puts a measure on that distance. From then on your portal tracks profile calls and search clicks every month, and no invoice comes before the agreed result.

Could my nearest rival hire you as well?

No. Each area gets one driveway business from us, so the installer competing for the same streets cannot sign up too. If one already has your patch with us, that is the first thing you hear.

We cover a whole county. Can we rank in every town?

Not equally. Map rankings weigh how far the searcher is from your verified base, so you show most strongly near the yard. Town pages help further out, but only when each one shows real drives you laid there. A page per town with the name swapped is what filled the Leeds and Bristol results we checked, and it rarely wins the call.

Should I stop buying leads?

Only if they stop earning their keep. For one season, write down where each job started: a bought lead, your profile, your website, or a neighbour who saw the finished drive. The free analysis then shows which firms hold the driveway searches near you, so you can weigh how much of that work could come without a per-enquiry charge.

Do I need a separate page for resin, block paving and tarmac?

Yes, if you want to be found for each one. They are separate searches with different questions behind them: drainage and planning for resin, patterns and sub-base for block paving, durability and price for tarmac. A single page called Driveways tries to answer all three at once, and usually loses to a firm that answered one properly.

Does being on the Marshalls Register or Buy With Confidence help my ranking?

Not directly. Google's help page sums up local ranking as "relevance, distance and popularity" (Google). A scheme directory that links to your website adds a little to the third. The bigger value is with customers who have read the doorstep warnings, so we make your memberships easy to find and check.

My website is old. Will you insist on replacing it?

No. A sound site stays, even one someone else built, and we add the surface pages, town pages and finished drives to it. Where the site is what costs you enquiries, the video will say so. Rebuilding it is a separate quote, never paid on results. Sites we build for trades

Before the March rush, see who holds your map.

Send us your town and the surfaces you want more of, whether block paving, resin, tarmac or gravel. Give us two working days and you get a short recorded walk-through of your local map: your spot on it today, the installers and directories ranked over you, and what would have to shift for your drive photos to be the ones homeowners see first. It's yours either way. If your patch is not worth the fight, you will hear that plainly.
